Guimarães,Gelton Geraldo Fernandes; Cantú,Rafael Ricardo; Scherer,Ramon Felipe; Beltrame,André Boldrin; Haro,Marcelo Mendes de.
ABSTRACT Considerable attention has been given to the development of new nutritional management strategies that can contribute to banana production be overestimated. The present study was motivated by the possibility that fertilizer application in front of the daughter plant might be more effective than application to the total banana production area. This study aimed to determine the most suitable site for soil collection to evaluate the chemical properties when fertilizer is applied in front of the daughter plant; to evaluate the efficacy of organic-mineral fertilizer in terms of soil nutrient availability, and to evaluate the effect on banana production. The experiment was conducted in three consolidated areas of banana plantation in Santa Catarina...

CRÉDITO RURAL E INADIMPLÊNCIA NA FRUTICULTURA IRRIGADA DO PÓLO PETROLINA-JUAZEIRO AgEcon

Effects of environmental and architechtural diversity of Caryocar brasiliense (Malpighiales: Caryocaraceae) on Edessa ruformaginata (Hemiptera: Pentatomidae) and its biology Agronomy
Leite, Germano Leao Demolin; Lopes, Paulo Sérgio Nascimento; Zanuncio, José Cola; Martins, Cristina de Paula Santos; Moreira, Thiago Marçal Borges; Costa, Renildo Ismael Féliz da.
We studied the effect of environmental complexity and plant architecture on the abundance of the Edessa rufomarginata bugs in pastures and cerrado areas and its biology. We observed higher number of bugs on Caryocar brasiliense trees in the cerrado than pasture areas. Bugs were more abundant on leaves and branches rather than fruits. Caryocar brasiliense had greatest fruit production on pasture than in the cerrado areas. The abundance of bugs was correlated positively with aluminum, organic matter, and tree height, but negatively correlated by soil pH. Productivity of C. brasiliense were negatively correlated with aluminum, pH, and number of bugs, but positively correlated with phosphorus and calcium. The number of eggs per clutch was 14.3, their viability...

Fruit production forecasting by neuro-fuzzy techniques AgEcon
Atsalakis, George S.; Atsalakis, Ioanna G..
Neuro-fuzzy techniques are finding a practical application in many fields such as in model identification and forecasting of linear and non-linear systems. This paper presents a neuro-fuzzy model for forecasting the fruit production of some agriculture products (olives, lemons, oranges, cherries and pistachios). The model utilizes a time series of yearly data. The fruit forecasting is based on Adaptive Neural Fuzzy Inference System (ANFIS). ANFIS uses a combination of the least-squares method and the backprobagation gradient descent method to estimate the optimal food forecast parameters for each year. The results are compared to those of an Autoregressive (AR) model and an Autoregressive Moving Average model (ARMA).

METAMITRON REPLACING CARBARYL IN POST BLOOM THINNING OF APPLE TREES Rev. Bras. Frutic.
PETRI,JOSÉ LUIZ; COUTO,MARCELO; GABARDO,GENTIL CARNEIRO; FRANCESCATTO,POLIANA; HAWERROTH,FERNANDO JOSÉ.
ABSTRACT Carbaryl or the mixture of carbaryl with NAA (naphthalene acetic acid) or BA (benzyladenine) are the post-bloom chemical thinners most widely used in apple thinning in Brazil. The marketing restriction of carbaryl demands new options of apple post-bloom thinners, requiring the evaluation of others compounds for this purpose. Metamitron is one of the substances that may be used in chemical thinning of apples. Metamitron was evaluated at two concentrations, alone or in mixture with BA, in ‘MaxiGala’, ‘Fuji Suprema’ and ‘Fred Hough’ apple cultivars. Applications of metamitron at 384 mg L-1 and at 768 mg L-1 in a mixture with BA, ranging from 40 mg L-1 to 80 mg L-1, sprayed on fruits with diameter ranging from 5 to 25 mm were compared with the...

MENDONÇA,HELOISA FERRO CONSTÂNCIO; CALVETE,EUNICE OLIVEIRA; COSTA,ROSIANI CASTOLDI DA; NIENOW,ALEXANDRE AUGUSTO.
ABSTRACT The use of protected environment in horticulture has been increasingly used as it provides increased precocity and productivity, in addition to produce outside the normal growing season. Both woody species such as herbs are possible to cultivate in this environment. However fruit plants occupy large spaces with a short production period. The study aimed to test whether strawberry genotypes present different production peaks in cultivated environment with fig trees. The treatments consisted of strawberry cultivars Aromas, Albion, Camino Real, Camarosa and Ventana distributed in delineation of randomized blocks with four replications and with a population of 10 plants m-2. It was recorded precocity in cultivars Albion, Camarosa and Ventana, because...

Phenology and agronomic components of first and second-cycle strawberry Horticultura Brasileira
Zeist,André R; Resende,Juliano TV de; Lima Filho,Renato B; Gabriel,André; Henschel,Juliane M; Silva,Israel FL da.
ABSTRACT Several strawberry growers have cultivated the same plants for two consecutive cycles aiming a greater economic return after seedling transplant. However, the phenological development and the agronomic potential of second-cycle strawberry have to be estimated. This research was installed to estimate the thermal need, leaf appearance rate, phyllochron and yield of strawberry cultivars in two consecutive crop cycles in the region of the Third Planalto Paranaense. Cultivars Camarosa, Camino Real, Albion, Aromas, Monterrey and San Andreas were evaluated in the first and second growing cycles using completely randomized blocks and four replications. Leaf appearance rate was estimated by linear regression coefficient between the number of leaves and the...

Pollination of cucumber, Cucumis sativus L. (Cucurbitales: Cucurbitaceae), by the stingless bees Scaptotrigona aff. depilis moure and Nannotrigona testaceicornis Lepeletier (Hymenoptera: Meliponini) in greenhouses Neotropical Entomology
Santos,Solange A.B. dos; Roselino,Ana C.; Bego,Luci R..
When for a successful fruit development the fertilization of flowers is necessary, bees can be used as crop-pollinators in greenhouses. In the present study, we investigated the effectiveness of the stingless bees Scaptotrigona aff. depilis Moure and Nannotrigona testaceicornis Lepeletier as pollinators of cucumber plants (Cucumus sativus var. caipira) in greenhouses during the Brazilian winter season. The study was conducted in four greenhouses (GH), of which two greenhouses contained bee colonies to ascertain pollination of the cucumber plants (GH I, with S. aff. depilis, GH II, with N. testaceicornis), whereas the other two greenhouses (GH III, GH IV) had no bee colonies and served as control groups. Furthermore, we planted cucumbers in an open field...

Pre-dispersal seed loss of Ramorinoa girolae (Fabaceae) in Ischigualasto Provincial Park (San Juan, Argentina) Boletín de la Sociedad
Papú,Sofía; Lagos Silnik,Susana; Campos,Claudia M.
Ramorinoa girolae Speg. is a “vulnerable” tree endemic to Argentina. During the pre-dispersal stage, the seeds are predated by Anypsipyla univitella. The objectives of this study were to describe some reproductive parameters (size and number of fruits and seeds) of R. girolae, to quantify pre-dispersal seed loss by abortion and predation, and to test the effect on pre-dispersal seed predation of fruit production (per tree, of co-specific neighbors, and the sum of both), size of fruits, number of seeds per fruit, and number of predators per fruit. As seeds can be partially consumed by the predator, the viability of partially damaged seeds was assessed as well. At Ischigualasto Park, we sampled 17 adult trees from 3 stands spaced 4 km...

Production components in transformed and untransformed ‘Micro-Tom’ tomato plants Rev. Ciênc. Agron.
Huther,Cristina Moll; Martinazzo,Emanuela Garbin; Schock,Anderson Augusto; Rombaldi,Cesar Valmor; Bacarin,Marcos Antonio.
ABSTRACT Changes to the amounts of certain proteins have resulted in several studies, among them the so-called heat shock proteins (HSP), which take many forms, most of them constitutive. However, other forms may be inducible by a particular stress factor. The ‘Micro-Tom’ tomato is considered a model for experimental studies due to having suitable characteristics, such as reduced size, short generation time, and ease of transformation. Growth and production components were therefore evaluated in ‘Micro-Tom’ tomato plants transformed for different levels of mitochondrial HSP (MT-sHSP23.6). Plants from genotypes of the ‘Micro-Tom’ tomato (untransformed, and transformed with overexpression and with expression silencing) were grown under controlled conditions...

Silva,Mônica S. da; Melo,Alberto S. de; Pedroza,Juarez P.; Gomes,Josivanda P.; M. Júnior,Sebastião de Oliveira.
Irrigation is a practice widely used in fruit production in the Brazilian Northeast region, including in the papaya crop in order to increase their productivity. For the purpose of knowing the productive potential of papaya hybrid irrigated, an experiment was carried out in order to evaluate the performance of a papaya hybrid under different irrigations depths. Four irrigation depths (50, 75, 100 and 125% of ETo) were tested and the reference evapotranspiration was calculated by the Penman-Monteith model. The hybrid papaya used was UENF/Caliman 01, which was planted in single rows, spaced 4 x 2m from each other, and irrigated by dripping. The experimental design in randomized blocks was used with six replications and three plants per plot. The following...
